I never dreamed of teaching, but when a position came my way within my organization, I decided to embrace it. It was very out of my comfort zone and quite high profile. All eyes were going to be on me and that was a scary thought. But, I did it. I pushed myself and ended up getting a lot out of the experience.
So many people think their dreams will happen by magic, without making any necessary steps towards achieving it. That is not the case. It’s up to you to be present and open to new things.
Here are a few steps you can take to more easily move out of your comfort zone:
- Recognize your strengths and the areas you need to improve. Build a higher self-awareness.
- Set a goal and draft an action plan on steps you need to take towards the materialization of this goal, even the steps that seem scary.
- Take action, one step at a time and don’t forget to celebrate each one, however minor they may feel.
Finances don’t need to play a role, especially in the beginning. Work on your personal development and plan and then figure out the second part when you are focused and ready.
Spend the time, do the work and reach a deeper level of understanding of why this is important to you.
