I never dreamed of teaching, but when a position came my way within my organization, I decided to embrace it. It was very out of my comfort zone and quite high profile. All eyes were going to be on me and that was a scary thought. But, I did it. I pushed myself and ended up getting a lot out of the experience.
I come from a culture where elders are to be respected and I have noticed this is being abused by elders to the point where younger generations are afraid to take responsibilities, such as replacing an elder within an organization or standing firm on their decision when an elder tries to “bully” them in the name of respect.
